Before and After: Jacob’s Ladder

before_after_jacobs_ladder

Jacob’s Ladder (on top of being a biblical reference) is a real staircase in the park in my hometown. I composited the photo I took of the ladder and the clouds on vacation, with a photo of myself on my apartment building staircase in NY. Then just toyed with hue/sat, curves, filters afterwards. For extra drama, I added a spotlight to the right hand side of the clouds.

Very creative, and well put together. I’ve wanted to try photography, and of course photo manipulation for quite some time, but haven’t had the funds to invest in an ideal camera or PhotoShop program. Your work is very inspiring. :)

What camera/add-ons, and software programs do you use?

    Thanks for your comments :)
I am pretty light on equipment. I use a Rebel XSi and a cheap tripod and remote. Photoshop CS3 does all the rest!

Oh and if you’re interested in trying one of these programs out, I believe you can download a 30-day trial.
