About
My name is Leah Johnston. I am an actor, singer, dancer, web designer, photographer and writer. I am originally from Canada but I presently reside in New York City where I pursue a performing career.
I grew up in Nova Scotia where I studied performing since the age of eight. During my years as a student, I competed regionally as both a singer and a dancer, performing in shows throughout the Maritimes such as Anne of Green Gables at the Confederation Centre and The Secret Garden at Neptune Theatre.
I attended NYU’s musical theatre program for four years and received a B.F.A. in Drama. After graduating, I signed with Independent Artists Agency and Authentic Talent Management. I have since been featured in shows such as Gossip Girl, As the World Turns and Bloodletters.
Many of my interests, which started as merely pass times, have grown into a part of my professional life. I began web designing while taking a course at NYU and have since started a burgeoning business designing websites for both performers and businesses alike.
Most recently, my interests have lead me into the world of photography. I specialize in creating conceptual self-portraits depicting concepts or poems that I have written. I find my poetry and my photos tend to inform one another and I am currently creating a body of work that implements both mediums.
Anyways, I hope this gives you an idea of who I am and what I do. I grew tired of the using my formal biography, which I didn’t find very interesting. I’ve attempted to organize most of my work to be accessible from my website, so please feel free to browse around and check it out!
