Sea of Broken Dreams
Sea of Broken Dreams
This will most definitely go down in history as my most dangerous shoot ever. I was so scared to crawl across the melting ice caps at my cottage to get this, I almost didn't do it! But I knew I'd regret it if I didn't, and I was right. So thankful not to have fallen through to that ice water below!

Do you ever feel like no matter what you'll never be able to climb out of the hole of tasks you’ve dug for yourself? Like you’ll never be able to come up for air?
Case in point, I shot this self-portrait over two years ago on a trip to Iceland... and I’m just getting around to editing it now. If that’s not symptomatic of how overwhelmed I’ve been, I don’t know what is. Read more ->>
Possible Futures
Possible Futures
Hard to believe it's been two years since I shot one of these. It's been such a busy kick working on my film projects. I love the work, but certainly, the rewards are far less immediate than in photography. Instead of hours or days, it takes months, sometimes years, just to see one film project through from conception to completion… Read more ->>
When Dreams Take Hold
When Dreams Take Hold
This photo is my favorite from the trip - both in the result and in memory. Chris and I woke before sunrise after staying overnight in our awful over-priced hotel and drove like zombies to Jökulsárlón Lagoon. We weren’t even sure where we were going - we only had a tiny pin on a map to navigate by. As the sun rose, I began to worry our crazy effort was all for nothing. Read more ->>

Wow. It's been a long time since I shot one of these! I never thought laying in freezing cold mud and water would feel so good...:)
After spending the last year of my life on a 10 minute long short film, I've really come to appreciate the immediacy of photography more than ever!

This is from the last shoot I did before leaving L.A.. (Makes me nostalgic just writing that!) Shot for the incredible singer-songwriter Holly Conlan in one of my all-time favorite locations in El Mirage salt lake...during a thunder storm no less!

Returning from Dreams
Returning from Dreams
Took this photo of my little sister, Katherine, in El Mirage when she came to visit me in February. It was a brutally cold day in the desert; The lake bed was pretty much abandoned and we could barely get out of the car due to the high winds slamming against the doors... BUT it turned out to be the perfect setting for our shoot!

So happy to be back!
I have been so busy lately that I've barely had time to turn around, let alone do personal shoots. It's been a very exciting and challenging endeavor, as you can imagine, and while I don't aspire to be a producer by any stretch, I consider it priceless education for me in terms of making my own films.

Constructs
Constructs
Driving to this shoot, I was thinking of possible titles for this photo and my mind kept going over this idea of the cage and how many things it could represent. In a way, I think the cage can represent all of the constructs which exist in the world around us. We are born into these constructs, and because we can never fully separate from society or 'unknow' what we know, we can never fully divorce ourselves from them.

Some of us cannot be free
Some of us cannot be free
This image is very personal to me. The idea here is that in spite of the beauty of the world, many of us will never truly be free to enjoy it because we are trapped- trapped by dogma, trapped by routine, trapped by our inability to escape their own emotions.

The Return
The Return
This was shot around the same time as this image and was intended to be a kind of sister image. I wanted to imply a story of a woman whose body is washed ashore after some kind of shipwreck, whose soul then arises and returns to the sea...not sure if that's evident from the poses but that is what I was thinking of when I created it.

Masquerade
This was such a fun shoot to do! I woke up at 5am and went fog hunting along the highway. I had seen some during a certain stretch of road the day before and I set out in the off-chance it would be there again. And it was! I was so happy to find it, I had to pull over to the side of the highway and stop.

Resurrection
I want to start by thanking everyone who has been patient in following my work through it's spurts and lags. Some people were asking were I've been, and I get the sense that people are sort of confused about why I'm so touch and go about my photography.

A Beautiful Release
A Beautiful Release
Over a year ago, I began a sort of self-prescribed therapy which consisted of writing poems then illustrating them with photos I took. These 'photo-poems', which began as a desperate attempt to escape my own reality, have since evolved into a rather all-encompassing series, chronicling the ups and downs of everything I go through both personally and professionally. Dreaming, Wide Awake
Dreaming, Wide Awake
Took this on a recent solo road trip up north to the ghost town of Bodie. It was both exhilarating and frightening to take off on the road alone and drive so far from everyone I knew. The idea was to just drive without trying to plan where I would go and what I would do--a real change from how I normally am! Read more ->>
Welcome to the Dollhouse
Welcome to the Dollhouse
As you might guess, this is my newest installment for my American Dollhouse series, shot in miniature again. This image is intended as sort of a replacement for my Ontogeny image, which I wasn't so happy with. Have I mentioned that shooting a real-life dollhouse and putting people in is pretty much the hardest thing I've ever tried to do?

I'm a bit obsessed with the idea of truth and trying to ascertain what people's individual truths are. It's a recurring theme in my relationships. I suppose it's a symptom of being an overly honest/naive person, and coming to find out that much of the world is run on lies and deceit. Read more ->>

IN COLD BLOOD
IN COLD BLOOD
I collaborated on this image with the lovely Jeff Babineau back in 2018. I happened to be out at my cottage when the ice caps began washing up on the shore, so Jeff and I rushed to create this image before the ice melted away. My feet nearly froze as I tried out different poses and concepts. Ultimately, I ended up choosing a pose that is strikingly similar to this previous photo I shot in 2011. I guess at the end of the day, I like what I like! 😛
I’m doing rewrites of my feature film script right now… “rewrite" being a figurative term for me gazing blankly out the window and staring at dozens of cue cards stuck along what that looks some sort of elaborate crime board. Read more ->>
